Dr. Bert McCarty from Clemson and Dr. Jim Kerns of NC State authored "Best Management Practices for Carolinas Golf Courses," a nearly 300-page text which has been recently published by the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association. Money for the manual was raised through the Carolinas GCSA-created charity program "Rounds 4 Research," which sells donated tee times online to generate funds for turfgrass research and related efforts (check out the program's website here). Since going national the program has been run by the Environmental Institute for Golf.
"We are extremely proud of this manual and what it stands for," said Carolinas GCSA President Adam Charles. "It's an excellent reference tool for superintendents but just as importantly it clearly demonstrates just how committed we are to the environmental and economic sustainability of the game. The two go hand in hand."
