Microsoft is hoping to "transform" golf with their new Course IQ app. In partnership with Gil Hanse, the app boasts over 30,000 3D-mapped golf courses for you to browse, as well as the key attributes of about 13,000 public courses-- including course architecture, average scores, common weather conditions and soil makeup (even showing how far down the bedrock is).
Foremost, the app is designed to help designers better estimate future maintenance, while giving an idea of the course's difficulty and the length of play. However, the app, which is available online as of October, is definitely worth checking out to anyone who is interested.
