Boulder, CO.- Cows are being used to control a patch of invasive tall oatgrass that has spread near the National Center for Atmospheric Research. Seventy pairs of cows, in fact, with their calves, were driven into the area in late May to eat the oatgrass.

While there was some difficulty- one bull was separated from the herd for a while and one calf died of exhaustion- the cows will remain in the site for several weeks, being repeated every year until the oatgrass has been eradicated.
