The Distinguished Service Award, the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association’s highest honor, was presented to Michael Fabrizio in Myrtle Beach this past November. Fabrizio, who has lead the grounds and maintenance crew at the Daniel Island Club since construction on the course first began in 1999, had this to say during the ceremony; “I have been very blessed and fortunate to have stumbled my way into this career at a time that the game of golf grew exponentially in the number of players and courses alike.” With the long list of courses, and people, he has influenced, it is hardly a surprise he is the youngest recipient of the CGCSA’s award.
