Westview Golf Course was recently designated a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.” The effort, led by superintendent Rick Miles, makes Westview the 50th golf course in Illinois and 913th in the world to receive the designation. The certification requires “a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas,” said Dough Becthel, Executive director at Audubon International; those categories include Environmental Planning, Wildlife and Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management.
