Since Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans City Park’s four golf courses, only one has been rebuilt, something officials hope will change with the recent bidding on a projected tournament-level golf course. And, according to Bob Becker, these hopes aren’t unfounded. Duininck, Inc, “a very respected golf course construction company” submitted a low bid (just over 13$ million) to construct the new course. Which is excellent news, because that number falls within the immediately available funds for the project. “We are extremely pleased with the results of the bidding and are looking forward to finally getting the construction of the new golf course underway,” said Becker. The state, now in the process of verifying the bids, hopes to finalize the award in a couple of weeks.
